Sen. Boxer visits Truckee

United States Sen. Barbara Boxer spent an hour and a half meeting Wednesday at Truckee Town Hall with elected officials and representatives from numerous agencies to discuss what the federal government can do to help meet the needs of Placer and Nevada counties.

The roundtable discussion focused on rapid population growth, the lack of affordable housing, transportation and water quality issues.

Boxer said President Bush’s tax cut has “tied the hands of the federal government” when it comes to additional funding.

“I can’t tell you how much it disturbs me to sit here and not be able to do anything about it,” Boxer said.

A full story on Boxer’s visit will run in next week’s Sierra Sun.
