Serious offenders targeted in Truckee sting

Law enforcement officials made three arrests in Truckee Thursday during a sweep of Nevada County’s high risk criminal offenders, said Robert Womack, detective with the Truckee Police Department.

The sweep, led by the U.S. Marshalls Office and including county and town officials, made the arrests on probation and drug violations, said Womack.

The sting was meant to ensure offenders were complying with probation regulations.

“We have some people that are on parole for serious crimes,” said Womack, explaining the individuals who were targeted in the sweep.

Over 30 sex offenders and parolees were contacted or searched during the Nevada County operation, including 12 in Truckee.

The three parolees that were arrested are being held in jail, said Womack.
