Sexual assault reported near high schools

Paul Raymore

Truckee Police Department officers arrested one juvenile on suspicion of sexual assault for an incident that occurred in a wooded area between Tahoe Truckee and Sierra high schools on Tuesday, according to police reports.

Officers were called to the scene by administrators at Tahoe Truckee High School, who police say had detained the alleged victim and suspect involved in the incident, both of whom are minors.

According to information gathered from the Truckee Police Department logs, the female victim was taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital for a SART exam Ð a forensic exam used to collect evidence of sexual assault.

The male suspect was arrested and is currently being held in juvenile hall in Nevada City.

The name of the suspect was not released because he is under 18. Truckee police would not release further information because the case is still under investigation.

Tahoe Truckee High School administrators did not return phone calls from the Sierra Sun.
