Skate park, disc golf course work under way

Progress on the skate park and disc golf course in Truckee is moving forward, with both expected to be completed by late summer.

On Monday, workers from Lucky Concrete were pouring the base on the skate park, which is adjacent to the southernmost softball field at Truckee River Regional Park.

The employees said they hoped to do a complete pour by tomorrow.

Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District spokesperson Chuck Halladay said although the park was originally slated to open this month, a lack of bids earlier this summer pushed the opening date back to the middle of September.

“The concrete is right on time,” Halladay said, adding that progress may be slightly delayed due to a backlog at the slide rail manufacturer’s shipping plant.

As for the disc golf course, also near the regional park, the first nine holes are in, but additional components are needed.

Although the nets have been installed, he said starter pads are still needed for each hole.

The course’s opening date is still to be determined. Rounds of disc golf will be free to players and tee times allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
