Ski, snowboard film legend Warren Miller dies at 93

Legendary ski filmmaker Warren Miller died on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the age of 93.

Iconic ski filmmaker Warren Miller died on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the age of 93.

He passed away at his home on Orcas Island, Wash.

“Warren earned global acclaim and a passionate, multi-generational following for his annual ski feature film, which kicked off the ski season for more than 60 years, showing in hundreds of cities in the U.S. and around the world,” said a statement posted on Miller’s website.

The filmmaker made more than 500 movies during his career and had many ties to the Truckee-Tahoe region.

The Warren Miller Entertainment full-length film “Here, There & Everywhere” featured Tahoe athletes and included a segment that was filmed at Squaw Valley.

Those interested in viewing Miller’s films can attend a showing at South Tahoe High School Theater on Saturday, Feb. 3.
