Skier killed at Mt. Rose

RENO – A Mountain View, Calif., man was killed in a skiing accident Saturday at Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe resort.

Washoe County Sheriff Dennis Balaam said Edward Kim, 36, fell while turning onto a ski run, striking a tree and rock. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered massive head injuries.

Witnesses said no other skiers were involved in the 1:30 p.m. accident. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but were unable to revive him.

The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to pinpoint the cause of death.

Kim was in the Reno-Tahoe area for a ski weekend with his wife when the accident occurred.
