Small wildfire causes traffic delays on Interstate 80 east of Hirschdale

A small wildland fire was contained Thursday afternoon, Aug. 17, about two miles east of Hirschdale off Interstate 80, the Truckee Fire Protection District said.

Motorists headed eastbound on Interstate 80 could experience traffic delays in the area, as the No. 2 shoulder has been closed.

The fire, which was contained at one-quarter acre, was apparently caused by construciton equipment used to work on nearby adjacent bike path. There was no threat to Truckee or Floriston. No injuries were reported.

Truckee Fire, Cal Fire and U.S. Forest Service personnel responded to the scene.
