Snow possible by this weekend in Truckee/Tahoe

Sun news service

After weeks waiting for the weather to change and the snow to fly at Lake Tahoe, there’s some potentially good news to report tonight:

A cold North Pacific storm system is expected to push into the Lake Tahoe region by this weekend bringing an abrupt change to the mild and dry weather, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

The cold system will bring strong winds to the area Friday and Saturday and begin to sweep through the Lake Tahoe area early Saturday morning, reports the weather service.

Temperatures are expected to plummet this weekend with highs on Saturday and Sunday in the teens and 20s at Tahoe and 30s in the valleys.

Snow levels are expected to drop to all valley floors but the amount of moisture with this system remains uncertain, according to the weather service.
