Snow possible in Truckee/Tahoe this week

TRUCKEE/TAHOE ” This week’s weather could see a few snow showers move into the region, but no significant accumulation.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, the forecast calls for unsettled weather throughout the week.

The first system predicted to show up will be late Tuesday or Wednesday, said Brian O’Hara, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Reno.

“Snow showers will be possible for North Tahoe and Truckee, but we’re not expecting much accumulation,” O’Hara said.

He said the snow line should be around 5,000 feet for this first storm.

The next one expected Thursday will start out a little warmer with the snow line around 6,000 feet, then dropping to 5,000, O’Hara said.

After that a high pressure system could move in Sunday, bringing the daytime highs up nearer to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, he said.

“We are looking for normal spring conditions; nothing out of the ordinary,” O’Hara said.
