Snowfall estimates for Truckee-area ski resorts range from 16-36 inches in past 24 hours
A wind-driven storm delivered in a big way for Truckee-area ski resorts with 24-hour snowfall estimates ranging from 16 inches to 36 inches.
Boreal Mountain Resort, which is located off Interstate 80 just west of Truckee, said Friday, March 2, it received 36 inches of fresh powder in the last 24 hours.
“So much new snow. It’s time to cash in your sick days and shred some pow with your friends,” the ski resort said in a message posted on its website.
Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, which is located of State Route 89 in Olympic Valley, said Friday it received 32 inches of snow in the last 24 hours and almost 5 feet in seven days.
Tahoe Donner, which is located on Northwoods Boulevard in Truckee, said Friday it received 28 inches of snow in the past 24 hours.
Sugar Bowl, which is located off of Sugar Bowl Road in Norden, said Friday it received 19 inches of snow in the past 24 hours.
“Anticipate delayed openings today, due to large amounts of snowfall,” the ski resort said in a message posted to its website.
Northstar California Resort, which is located off State Route 267 in Truckee, said it received 16 inches of fresh powder in the last 24 hours.
And the snow is continuing to fall in Truckee, with another 3-5 inches possible on Friday and 4-8 inches possible overnight, the National Weather Service Office in Reno said.
