Sobriety checkpoint scheduled Friday evening in Truckee

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The California Highway Patrol and Truckee Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint within the town at an undisclosed location from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

At the checkpoint, traffic volume permitting, drivers will be checked for being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs in an effort to improve traffic safety in Truckee.

and#8220;Our objective is to send a clear message to those individuals that consider mixing alcohol or drugs with driving,and#8221; a CHP press release stated.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
