Southwest and Ski Lake Tahoe to join forces

Southwest Airlines is now the official carrier of Ski Lake Tahoe, the marketing association of seven of the largest ski resorts in the region including Northstar, Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley.
“With Southwest Airlines having 51 percent of the market share at the Reno Tahoe International Airport, it made all the sense to have Southwest be our official airline partner for promotions and to get the word out about skiing at Lake Tahoe,” said John Wagnon, president of Ski Lake Tahoe.
The two companies announced their partnership last Thursday.
The relationship will open doors for regional promotions with the airline, Wagnon said, and will allow marketing opportunities in key non-stop flight markets like Chicago, Dallas and San Diego.
The partnership is good news for the North Shore, and will likely provide a strong boost to the local economy, said North Lake Tahoe Resort Association Director of Tourism Andy Chapman.
