Southwest plans flights between San Diego, Reno

Associated Press

Southwest Airlines will launch two new daily, nonstop flights between San Diego and Reno beginning Sunday.

One of the new flights leaves San Diego at 9:30 a.m. and arrives in Reno at 11:10 a.m. The other flight leaves San Diego at 6:55 p.m. and arrives in Reno at 8:30 p.m.

Tourism officials said the new flights will make it easier for San Diego-area residents to get to and from Lake Tahoe ski resorts.

“These direct flights open the doors to San Diego, which was previously one of Southwest Airline’s most underserved markets for the Tahoe region,” said Andy Chapman, tourism director of the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association.

One-way fares begin as low as $67.
