Sparks man killed in I-80 wreck near Hirschdale Thursday

TRUCKEE and#8212; A Sparks, Nev., man was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon, temporarily closing one lane of westbound Interstate 80 near Hirschdale.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Prisco, Jarrett Gesuale, 37, was reported by witnesses as driving recklessly when he crashed at about 1 p.m. Thursday.
Driving a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, Gesuale reportedly continued straight when the road curved left, launching the truck into the air, off the interstate, Prisco said.
and#8220;He became airborne and landed nose down, causing the truck to overturn end over end,and#8221; Prisco said. and#8220;He wasnand#8217;t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. We believe if he were wearing a seat belt, he would have survived.and#8221;
Highway patrol will be investigating whether alcohol played a role, Prisco said.
Officers have spoken to two witnesses, who characterized Gesuale as driving recklessly, and passing vehicles on the right, Prisco said.
