The first 50 entrants will receive a special hooded sweatshirt, and all contestants will win prizes and gear for only a $10 registration fee.Softball, lacrosseThe Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Park District is holding sign-ups through mid-April for its girls softball league as well as boys and girls lacrosse leagues. The leagues last through early June. Softball is for girls grades second through eighth, and lacrosse is for athletes ages 8-18. Stop by the TDRPD office or call 582-7720.Demo a MakboardThe public is invited to demo the Makboard, a 100 percent recyclable snowboard, for free at the Lake Tahoe Truckee Earth Day festival at the Village at Squaw Valley on April 26. Recycling an old Makboard is as simple as sending it back to the company with a pre-paid shipping label. Snowboarders who do choose to recycle their old Makboards will be given a credit toward the purchase of a new Makboard. For more information about the Makboard go to http://www.Makboard.com or visit the Makboard tent at the Lake Tahoe Truckee Earth Day festival.DodgeballThe TCPUD Recreation Department is taking registration for its new dodgeball program, which will be played at Rideout Community Center from 6:30-9 p.m. There will with two to three open gym dodgeball nights to be followed by a league and potentially a tournament if there is enough interest. The program is open to anyone 14 years and older. Open gym is free, but the team fee is $125, with the sponsor fee at $150. Umpires are needed for games a week between April 26 and June 15. An umpire clinic is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at the EAA Hanger at the Truckee Airport from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend. The program is open to girls grades third through ninth. Teams will be divided into different grade groups. Games and practice will be held after school at various locations Monday through Friday. The league begins April 28 and ends June 7. The fee is $75 or $70 for residents, which includes a team shirt and a picture package. Registration ends April 11.
