CNISSF Nordic skiing | Cross-country skiers travel to Mammoth

High school and middle school Nordic ski racers travelled to Tamarack Lodge this past Friday to compete in the Mammoth Classic.
The Truckee girls and Mammoth boys won the high school team event, while North Tahoe's boys and girls won the middle school team event.
In varsity girls competition, Amanda Kirkeby (20:38.5) of Mammoth raced to a first-place finish ahead of Truckee's Lizzie Larkins (20:53) and North Tahoe's Quinn Lehmkuhl (21:20.1).
Incline's Ursula Volz placed fourth and Truckee's Grace Bronstone was fifth, followed by North Tahoe's Tara Gallant and Camille Syben. Kyla Burrill and Claire Lang-Ree of Truckee crossed the finish in eighth and ninth, respectively, and Sugar Bowl Academy skier Eleanore Hamilton rounded out the top 10.
With four skiers in the top 10, the Truckee girls recorded a high score of 208 points to runner-up North Tahoe's 200 and third-place South Tahoe's 126.
Peter Carroll of the Sugar Bowl Academy took the individual win in the varsity boys race, posting a time of 16:28.7. Trace Calvin (16:56.3) of Mammoth placed second and was followed by North Tahoe's JC Schoonmaker (17:05.9) in third. North Tahoe's Cam Goldstone finished fifth, and Truckee Chris Miller was seventh.

Mammoth's boys earned the team win with 154 points. South Tahoe was second with 140, followed by North Tahoe (132) and Truckee (83).
In middle school racing, North Tahoe's Sofia Sanchez (11:35.1) and Ella Kuzyk (11:49.6) finished 1-2 while Alder Creek's Kianna Mullings (12:38.5) rounded out the top three. They were trailed by North Tahoe's Alexia Craven and Nina Seeman, Alder Creek's Frances Hamilton, Incline's Lexie Madigan, and Alder Creek's Britta Winans, Megan Flynn and Adelaide McDermott.
North Tahoe's girls edged Alder Creek, 382-378, for the team win, and South Tahoe was third with 353.
Sugar Bowl Academy's Haydn Halvorsen won the middle school boys race with a time of 9:53.1. North Tahoe skiers took the next three spots, with Nate Cutler (9:56.4) placing second, Cooper Anderson (10:32.3) third and Max Roske fourth.
North Tahoe also claimed the sixth through eighth spots — Murphy Scott, Jacob Gramanz, Riley Hacker — while Alder Creek's Bjorn Halvorsen was ninth and North Tahoe's Phoenix Sanchez 10th.
In the team points, North Tahoe was first with 389, followed by Alder Creek (359) and South Tahoe (340).
