Genevieve Evans wins in XTERRA Tahoe City triathlon

The XTERRA Tahoe City triathlon drew just under 100 participants to the North Shore on Saturday.

Nineteen-year-old David Duncan took the overall win in a field of 98 triathletes, posting a time of 2:47:51. Genevieve Evans, 41, of Carnelian Bay was the top woman and 10th overall, crossing the finish line in 3:00:37.

Duncan was followed by Phillip Glenn (2:50:37) and Chris Belnap (2:51:07), while Truckee's Donatas Ereminas was fourth (2:52:00) and Tim Sheeper fifth (2:52:04).

In the women's field, Amber Mounday placed second behind Evans and 22nd overall in 3:13:38. Jessica Koltz was the third woman (3:19:33), Janet Soule was fourth (3:22:42) and Chrstina Liebner fifth (3:30:42).

Hometowns were not listed with the results.

Forty-five people participated in the Sprint triathlon. Steve Dalal, 47, won the race with a time of 2:05:10, while Rebecca Clifton topped the women's field and was sixth overall, in 2:16:58.

Tom Damaschino placed second overall in 2:08:00 and was followed by Lance Maiss (2:10:34), David Moore (2:11:39) and Jeff Berezny (2:16:34).

Jenny Emick was second among women (2:25:06), Tracy Shane was third (2:29:59), Theresa Zaro fourth (2:34:52) and Katharine Verdon fifth (2:35:48).

The XTERRA Tahoe City also included a duathlon, which was won in a tight finish by Daniel Gazarian (3:23:30.53) and Stacey Sbolci (3:23:30.82).
