Inaugural Truckee Running Festival slated for Saturday, July 2

Big Blue Adventureand#8217;s inaugural Truckee Running Festival on Saturday, July 2 has something for everyone and#8212; from children to elite racers, and 10K runners to half-marathoners.

The Fourth of July weekend event at River View Sports Park provides an opportunity for the entire family to run on some of Truckee most scenic trails while raising funds for the nonprofit Truckee Trails Foundation. A portion of the proceeds will fund the foundation that promotes trail use and trail building throughout the Truckee area.

The festivaland#8217;s 5K and 10K races along the Truckee River offer fast, flat routes, and a trail half marathon will take competitors onto the newly public trails of Waddle Ranch above the Martis Valley. Short, non-competitive childrenand#8217;s running events will be held on the manicured lawns of River View Sports Park.

The Truckee Running Festival is part of the eight-race Tahoe Trail Running Series. Competitors can gain points at the festivaland#8217;s races that will be added to a competitorand#8217;s overall series points total. At the end of the series, Big Blue Adventure awards prizes to series competitors based on points.

Athlete check-in and registration for the Truckee Running Festival is available from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, July 1 at the Granite Chief store in Truckee, and from 7-8:15 a.m. on Saturday at River View Park. All adult races start at 9 a.m. Races for children begin at 11 a.m. A barbecue follows, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
