The Incline boys basketball team's season came to an end with a 62-47 loss to top-seeded Yerington in the semifinal round of the Northern Division III regional tournament in West Wendover on Friday.

The Highlanders, who entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed, posted a final record of 9-13 overall.

"Everything was going the way we thought it would go. I thought we were playing really well," said Incline coach Tim Kelly, whose team stayed within striking distance through most of the contest. "We showed great energy and great toughness."

After falling behind 15-8 by the end of the first quarter and 28-17 by the half, Incline closed the gap to five points in the third quarter before its standout senior point guard fouled out, and the lead grew back to double digits.

Tanner Quenneville reached his foul limit with six minutes remaining in the third quarter — with his final two fouls coming in quick succession. Junior guard Jon Cromer then fouled out with seven minutes left in the fourth, and senior forward Blake Perry fouled out a minute later.

"We had momentum in third quarter. Everyone in the gym knew it. But then we had five straight fouls called on us. We were right there," Kelly said.

"Everybody played hard and to the best of their ability. I'm proud of our guys," Kelly said. "People didn't even expect this team to make regionals. They had a great year."

Yerington went on to defeat second-seeded Pershing County 75-64 in the regional championship to earn the North's No. 1 seed in the state tournament. Pershing County will represent the North as the No. 2 seed at state.
