Incline football: Longhorns too strong to contain

The Incline football team ended the season with a 54-14 home loss against a playoff-bound Battle Mountain team last Thursday.

While the Highlanders got on the board with a touchdown in the first quarter, they could not keep pace with the Longhorns' explosive offense, which posted 26 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second to build a 47-7 lead by the half.

Senior quarterback Tanner Quenneville scored both Incline touchdowns — one rushing and one on a kickoff return — and finished with a team-high 102 yards rushing and 87 yards on special teams. Senior backs Owen Graffis and Michael Guymon finished with 65 and 16 yards rushing, respectively.

Junior quarterback Bryan Chavira led the Longhorns with 266 yards and three touchdowns on 9-of-16 passing, as well as 104 yards rushing and a touchdown on 10 carries.

Quenneville, who took over at quarterback after starter Kelsey Philpott went down with a head injury on Sept. 25, was named Incline's Overall Player of the Game. Graffis was Offensive Player of the Game, Guymon was Defensive Player of the Game and Jerry Sanchez was Special Teams Player of the Game.

Incline finished the year 1-4 in the Northern Division III and 4-5 overall.
