Incline football, volleyball | Highlanders fall at Battle Mountain

The Incline football team fell to 2-2 in Northern Division III play with a 56-7 loss at Battle Mountain on Friday.
The Longhorns (4-1) jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead and led 36-0 at the half.
The Highlanders got on the board in the fourth quarter on a touchdown rush by junior Charlie Zendner, who led Incline with 76 rushing yards on three carries.
Battle Mountain held Incline's leading running back, Owen Graffis, to 30 yards on 13 carries, while quarterback Jack Clouthier finished 7-of-21 passing for 74 yards, with three interceptions. Alex Zissis caught four passes for 39 yards, and Ben Snyder caught three for 35 yards.
The Longhorns amassed 446 yards rushing, led by senior Ivan Chavira's 239 yards on 14 rushes.
Incline hosts West Wendover (0-4) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Incline volleyball sweeps past Lakers
The Highlanders defeated visiting North Tahoe in straight sets in Tuesday's league volleyball match, 25-18, 25-8, 25-17.
Jordan Briggs led the Lakers with five kills and three service aces, while Helana Kearns had 15 digs and Jamie Dodge 12 assists.
Incline stats were not available. The Highlanders are scheduled to host Silver Stage on Friday at 5 p.m. and play at Yerington on Saturday to end the regular season.
The top four teams in league qualify for the Northern Division III regional tournament, will take place at West Wendover on Nov. 8. Division standings were not available.
