Incline prep roundup: Highlanders top South Tahoe in boys, girls soccer

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Madison Cronk slammed 11 kills and spun over six aces, helping the Incline volleyball team defeat West Wendover 3-1 in a 2A Northern match last Friday at Incline High School.

After falling short in the opening set, 26-24, the Highlanders bounced back to win the ensuing three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-13).

Incline's Chandler Cohn and Ellyse Kirkland added 10 kills apiece and led the defense with 23 and 15 digs, respectively.

Madeleine Saxe orchestrated the offense with a team-best 32 set assists.

On Saturday, Incline let a 2-0 lead over White Pine slip away, falling 3-2 (20-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-15, 15-10) in a league match at Incline High School.

Kirkland led the Highlanders with 12 kills and 11 digs. Cronk added eight kills and 13 digs, while Cohn had 15 digs.

Incline (2-3, 2-2) has a road match at Yerington at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Boys soccer: Incline edges South Tahoe

Edgar Ponce scored a goal in the 28th minute, steering the Incline boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over South Tahoe on Wednesday at Incline High School.

The Highlanders' win over the Vikings — the defending 3A state champions — was fueled by their strong defense, anchored by goalkeeper Bryan Dominguez, who had five saves on the night.

Incline kept its momentum Saturday, rolling to an 8-2 league win over Lowry on the road.

The Highlanders (7-1-2, 2-0-2) face rivals North Tahoe and Truckee this week.

Girls soccer: Highlanders top Vikings

Madio Waller and Belle Johnson each found the back of the net, propelling the Incline girls soccer team to a 2-0 3A Northern win over South Tahoe last Wednesday.

Incline goalkeeper Michaela Racich collected three saves to preserve the shutout.

On Saturday, the Highlanders couldn't get their offense going in a 2-0 loss on the road to Lowry. Incline (2-2) clashes with North Tahoe and Truckee this week.

Boys tennis: Incline sweeps Sparks

The Incline boys tennis team swept Sparks 18-0 last Thursday at Sparks High School.

Singles players Ian Smith, Paul Larson and Cooper Lyons accounted for two wins each to lead the way. Freshman Brayden Hocking also won his first-ever varsity singles match.

Matt Cornell and Jacob Leon Iowa anchored the doubles with two wins while Jacob Collins and Hocking won their doubles match.

On Tuesday, the Highlanders were put on the ropes at home, losing to South Tahoe 17-1.

Incline's lone win was a doubles victory from the duo of Smith and Larson. Incline (4-3) hosts Fallon at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Girls tennis: Highlanders rout Railroaders

The Incline girls tennis team had little trouble with Sparks in a 17-1 win last Thursday.

On Tuesday, however, the Highlanders struggled to get on track in a 15-3 road loss to South Tahoe. Incline (3-3) travels to Fallon for a 3 p.m. match Thursday.
