Incline prep roundup: Volz finishes second in state cross-country meet

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Two members of the Incline High girls cross-country team performed in the season's final meet this past weekend at the 2016 1A/2A state meet in Las Vegas.
Incline's Ursula Volz was second overall with a time of 20 minutes, 7 seconds, finishing runner up to North Tahoe's Quinn Lehmkuhl (19:44).
Incline's Kate Rye finished in 16th overall with a time of 22:30.

Volleyball falls in straight sets
The Incline varsity volleyball team fought a tough battle against the No. 2 seed White Pine Wildcats in Fernley for the Northern 3A Regional Tournament this past weekend.

However, White Pine proved to be too strong, and the Highlanders lost in straight sets to end their 2016 season.
Boys soccer loses heartbreaker to Sparks
The Incline High boys soccer team came in as the 5th seed to face No. 1 seed Sparks this past Thursday at the 3A Northern Regional tournament in Winnemucca.
In the 27th minute, Incline senior Juan Infante scored from 30 yards away to put the Highlanders up 1-0, but Sparks was able to answer in the closing seconds of the half to tie it.
In the second, after Sparks scored on a penalty kick, Incline sophomore midfielder Jan Callejas scored on a free kick to tie the game at 2-2. However, in the last seconds of the second half, Sparks scored on a corner kick, ending Incline's season.
Girls soccer ends season with loss to Truckee
Also Thursday, the fifth-seeded Incline girls soccer team played No. 1 seed Truckee in the 3A Northern Regional tournament in Winnemucca.
The Wolverines jumped out to an early lead, and despite junior Belle Johnson's goal in the 73rd minute for Incline, Truckee was too much, winning the game 6-1 and ending Incline's season.
