Incline tennis | Anne Schrage wins third straight regional title

For the third consecutive year, Incline junior Anne Schrage emerged victorious in the individual Northern Region Division I-A championships.

Schrage was never challenge en route to the title.

She won her opening match, 6-0, 6-1, then followed with a 6-2-6-1 win in the quarterfinal round, a 6-2, 6-2 win in the semis and a 6-1, 6-0 win in the championship match against Kylee Lyons of South Tahoe.

Truckee's Aimee LaGrandeur finished third and Incline's Allison Tong was fourth, sending them to the state championship as the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively. Schrage will carry the North's No. 1 seed into state and Lyons the No. 2.

Tong won her first match 6-1, 6-2 and her second match 6-4, 6-4 before losing to Schrage in the semis. Tong fell to LaGrandeur, 6-4, 6-4, in the third-place match.

State championship

The Division I-A state individual championships will be contested at Tahoe Donner Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-25. Girls start at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Saturday’s action starts with semifinal rounds at 9 a.m.
