Jakeandamp;#8217;s Charity Fishing Derby to return for 18th year

After a long winter and with lakes filling nicely from all of the snowpack that was created, anglers are turning their attention to fishing. The 18th annual Jakeandamp;#8217;s Charity Fishing Derby, sponsored by Jakeandamp;#8217;s on the Lake, is set to take place on Sunday, June 5.This is an annual event that anglers from all over our region attend. The proceeds generated from this event always go to a worthy local organization. This year, the beneficiary is Boy Scout Troop No. 266 in Tahoe City.Cost to enter the Derby is a $50 donation. Included with this entry fee is a great buffet lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jakeandamp;#8217;s on the Lake, a T-shirt and raffle. Anglers need not be present to win a raffle prize.Those wishing to participate in the buffet only may do so for $18. Many come for the buffet and to witness the weigh-in.All anglers must be pre-registered at either Jakeandamp;#8217;s or Pete and Peterandamp;#8217;s by 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. Anglers will compete from Sunday from 4:30 a.m. to noon. All fish that are weighed in must be brought to scales on the lawn area at Jakeandamp;#8217;s on the Lake by noon. No late entries will be accepted.Prizes include $1,000 for the largest Mackinaw, $500 for the largest brown trout and $250 for the largest rainbow trout. The largest fish will be determined by weight only. All fish are to be weighed according to the California Department of Fish and Game.All Coast Guard and DFG regulations will apply to participants of this derby. Make sure you have the proper safety gear on your vessel and the proper licenses and gear to fish in California.Finally, all fish entered must be caught in Lake Tahoe by boat, tube, from shore or pier on Sunday, from 4:30 a.m. until noon.With more water in the lake this year, anglers are anxiously anticipating a great season on Lake Tahoe.
