Junior golf tour kicks off at Old Greenwood

Old Greenwood hosted the first of five tournaments in the Truckee Tahoe Junior Golf Tour.

Fourty-six young golfers competed in the opening event of the 2015 Truckee Tahoe Junior Golf Tour at Old Greenwood Golf Course.

The tournament was the first of five on the TTJGT calendar.

Kenzie McCormick started the season where she left off by winning the Girls 10-11 division. Stella de Wit finished second.

Kenzie's sister, Haley McCormick, did the same thing in the Girls 12-14 division, winning with a score of 59.

Jordyn Jensen finished in second place on a day off from her duties as a first baseman for the Truckee 12-year-old All-Star baseball team, which was competing in the regional district Little League tournament.

Huck Raymore also started in the same groove he left off in 2014 by winning the Boys 8-9 group with a 49. Hunter Neave and Luke Brown finished in second and third place with scores of 56 and 58, respectively.

Max Carter led the way in the tightest race of all the age groups, the Boys 10-11. He placed first with a 60 and was followed right behind by Zach Anttila with a 61 and Diego Rodriguez with a 62.

Past TTJGT Cup winner Jackson Brown kicked off the season by winning the Boys 12-13 age group with a 45. Ethan Flynn came in second at 48 and Patrick Volkman was third with a 51.

Quinn Earley of the North Tahoe High golf team won the Boys 14-15 with a 47. Matthew Volkman was second at 49 and Airon Yarbrough came in third with a 53.

Sam Willis of the Truckee High golf team led the way in the boys 16-17 group, with newcomer Jack Colton coming in second.

The second tournament of the TTJGT season was held at Coyote Moon on Tuesday. The tour continues at the Resort at Squaw Creek on July 21, Ponderosa Golf Course on Aug. 6 and the tour championship at Gray's Crossing on Aug. 11.
