Lady Highlanders split pair of home contests
January 17, 2018
The Incline girls' basketball team faced off against Class 2A's only undefeated squad on Friday, Jan. 12, and experienced the same outcome as White Pine's previous 14 opponents — a loss.
White Pine jumped on Incline early on its way to a 51-30 win, taking a 20-5 lead after the first quarter. White Pine then stretched that lead to 20 by halftime on Incline's home court.
Incline would play better during a low-scoring second half, but White Pine still managed to outscore the Highlanders 19-18 during the final 16 minutes.
Bobcats senior Hailey Ernest led all scorers with 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting. Junior Taylor Redfern led Incline with nine points on 4 of 11 shooting. Junior Ava Laurie was next with six points. Sophomore Madison Corneil and senior Haeden Suter each added five points. Corneil finished with five steals on the night.
White Pine went on to top North Tahoe 46-10 the following day. The Bobcats have beat 14 of their 16 opponents this season by double digits. Only Pershing County has been able to keep games close with White Pine, so far, dropping a league game and a preseason tournament game by five points each time.
The Lady Highlanders would get back in the win column the next day with a 46-38 win at home over West Wendover.
