The Truckee area has been gripped by cold and snow this week, but inside the high school gymnasium, the nets are likely still smoldering from last Friday's performance by the Lady Wolverines basketball team.
Junior Elena Friedman and senior Ava Seelenfreund combined for 43 of Truckee's season-high 74 points during the team's 51-point blowout win against South Tahoe.
Friedman was on fire from beyond the 3-point line, draining 6 of 8 attempts for 18 points on the night in one of the top shooting performances in Truckee girls' basketball history.
"I knew it was going to be a pretty good game after the first shot, so I just tried to keep that going," said Friedman on the performance. "There was that, and also my team was really encouraging."
Seelenfreund dominated both sides of the ball, scoring a season-high 25 points on 11 of 18 shooting, while also finishing the game with 10 steals.
"This was a big improvement," said Seelenfreund on the team's win. "We played more as a team and our shots were dropping."
