Lakers, Wolverines shot down on road trip

The North Tahoe and Truckee high basketball teams stumbled through a tough Northern 3A road trip at Lowry and Spring Creek this past Friday and Saturday.
When all said and done, the four varsity teams ” each school’s boys and girls squads ” returned home a combined 0-4.
The Truckee boys came closest to victory with a 67-58 loss at Lowry (6-0, 10-2) Friday night in Winnemucca. The Wolverines then lost 67-48 to Spring Creek (5-1, 7-7) the following day to adjust their record to 2-4 in league and 6-7 overall.
North Tahoe’s boys dropped to 0-6 in Northern 3A league play and 4-12 overall with a 63-47 defeat at Spring Creek on Friday and a 64-46 loss at Lowry on Saturday.
On the girls’ side, the Wolverines ” who were previously undefeated in the Northern 3A ” fell to 4-2 in league and 10-5 overall with a 69-48 loss at Lowry on Friday and a 67-48 defeat at Spring Creek the next day.
The Spring Creek girls remain in first place in league with a 6-0 record (13-2 overall), while Lowry is hot the Spartans’ heals at 5-1 (8-5 overall). The defending 3A state champion Spring Creek girls are currently riding a 42-game win streak in Northern 3A play.

North Tahoe’s girls (1-5, 4-10) also had a rough weekend competing against the league’s top two teams, losing 74-17 at Spring Creek on Friday and 55-16 at Lowry on Saturday.
The Wolverines play at Incline on Wednesday, with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. North Tahoe will host to Yerington on Wednesday. The girls game begins at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.
