Nicklaus plans inaugural round of golf at Old Greenwood

Old Greenwood, the new four-season resort community located only minutes from historic downtown Truckee, features North Lake Tahoes only Jack Nicklaus Signature resort golf course. On Monday, Aug. 30, the Golden Bear himself will play a special inaugural round on his latest masterpiece. Nicklaus will play the 18 hole course to make sure its up to his lofty standards.The August 30 inaugural round is part of a larger two-day celebration called the Old Greenwood Inaugural Event hosted by Tahoe Mountain Resorts and Crescent Real Estate Equities. Invited guests will not only have the opportunity to watch Nicklaus play his newest golf course, but will be entertained with a concert by recording artist Edwin McCain. On Tuesday, August 31, invited guests will get their own chance to beat the Bear. The Old Greenwood Open Pro-Am will be played on the same course that Nicklaus played the previous day, with the tees and pin placements on the course left unchanged. Playing with each foursome will be some of the finest directors of golf and teaching professionals from across the country. Punctuating the day will be the worlds most renowned trick shot artist, Chuck The Hitman. The Old Greenwood course has the designation of a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, which signifies the legendary golfers personal attention and involvement in every aspect of the courses design and development.The course is set to open for play to the general public by August 15. The Nicklaus course will play up to 7,542 yards. The course will sit at an elevation of 6,000 feet, where tee-shots can travel 10 to 15 percent farther than at sea level. This will be a challenging course for even the best of players, but still playable and enjoyable for all skill levels.
