North Tahoe snowboarders begin new season

On the overall points board, the North Tahoe High snowboard team had a rough start to the CNISSF season.

While the Laker girls finished second at the first race, a GS held at Northstar-at-Tahoe on Monday, the boys from North Tahoe took last.

North Tahoe ” one of six snowboard teams in the Central 2 division of the California-Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation, which includes Nevada Union, Bear River, Colfax, Davis and Placer ” took fifth overall with 255 points. Nevada Union won with 334 points, followed by Placer (317), Colfax (290) and Davis (262).

North Tahoe’s boys finished with 88 points, while Bear Valley posted 121, Davis 131, Placer 140, Nevada Union 166 and Colfax 168.

The Laker girls placed runner-up to Nevada Union by a single point, 167 to the Miners’ 168. The Placer girls finished with 150 points, Colfax 149 and Davis 131. Bear Valley does not have a girls team.

Lauren Johnson was the top Laker racer, finishing first in 2:13.07. Heather McKenney (2:21.57) was fifth, Kendra Haskill (2:21.75) sixth, Jenna Burnside (2:39.94) 17th, Justine Multon (2:46.01) 23rd, Dani Pranin (2:53.07) 30th and Kelly Marsh (3:19.41) 38th.

On the boys side Tyler Turpin was the top Laker racer, placing second in 2:13.21. Ben Reilly (2:30.62) was 24th, Davidson Harley (2:48.10) 40th, Adam Burnside (3:07.36) 42nd and Ryan Roemer (DNS) 43rd.
