North Tahoe snowboarders finish fourth

Led by Tyler Turpin, who posted his second consecutive first-place finish, the North Tahoe High snowboard team took fourth place overall during a California-Nevada Interscholastic Ski & Snowboard Federation (CNISSF) Central 2 Division slalom race at Alpine Meadows on Monday.Placer took first place overall boys and girls combined with 337 points. Nevada Union was second with 312, Colfax third with 305, North Tahoe fourth with 263, Davis fifth with 234 and Bear River sixth with 126. It was the first time this season that Nevada Union did not place first.As has been the norm this season, North Tahoes girls led the way for Laker racers. The girls from North Tahoe finished in third place with a score of 161 points. Nevada Union was first at 166 and Placer second with 165. Colfaxs girls were fourth with 143 points and Davis fifth with 125.The Laker girls were led by Heather McKenney, who placed fourth with a combined time of 1 minute, 7.24 seconds. McKenney was closely followed by Kendra Haskill, who was fifth in 1:07.42.Next for the Lakers was Jenna Burnside (1:14.44) in 12th, Justine Multon (1:15.90) in 14th, Charissa Glander (1:26.27) in 21st, Kelly Marsh (1:37.21) in 29th, Kacie Wright (1:42.59) in 32nd and Trinity Jevoda (1:59.88) in 34th.Nevada Union senior Caitlin Chase won with a 59.31 clocking.The Laker boys squad, made up of only five racers, finished sixth with a score of 102. Placer was first on the boys side with 172 points, Colfax second with 162, Nevada Union third with 146, Bear River fourth with 126 and Davis fifth with 109.Behind leader Turpin, who won the boys race with a combined time of 1:00.65 11.32 seconds faster than his combined first-place time from last weeks race the next closest North Tahoe racer was Ben Reilly (1:10.95) in 19th place. Davidson Harley (1:22.34) was 34th and Adam Burnside (1:29.75) was 40th.
