North Tahoe soccer: Girls win 2; boys blanked at Wendover

Staff report

The North Tahoe soccer teams traveled across the state for league games at White Pine and West Wendover this past weekend.

The girls won both of their games, 5-2 at White Pine and 7-0 at West Wendover. The boys routed White Pine 10-0 but lost 3-0 at West Wendover, which also defeated Incline, 1-0, the day before. The Wolverines now lead the Northern Division III with a 3-0 league record.

"They have a good team this year," said North Tahoe coach Beto Alcaraz, whose Lakers defeated the Wolverines in last year's state semifinal. "It should get interesting at the end of the year."

In the North Tahoe boys' lopsided win over White Pine (0-2), Austin Carr scored four goals, while Jesús Ortega scored two goals, and Kevin Delgado, Paulino Tapía, Omar Cerda and Ángel León scored a goal apiece. The boys are 2-1 in league play.

Stats were not available for the North Tahoe girls, who improved to 4-0-1 in league.
