North Tahoe volleyball | First-place Lions too strong for Lakers

Staff report

The North Tahoe volleyball team dropped a league match in straight sets against first-place Yerington on Wednesday, 15-25, 15-25, 9-25.

The Lions, who improved to 8-0 in the Northern Division III and 27-2 overall, have not lost a set to a league opponent this season.

The Lakers, who are 3-6 in league and 5-9-1 overall, did not play poorly against the perennial power Lions. North Tahoe started off with a hot hand as junior Jordan Briggs served up a few aces to give the hosts the early lead.

The set remained tight for about five minutes. And then Yerington began to hit its stride, led by the powerful duo of Chloe Danbe and Kassidy Lommori, who finished with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Lommori also had five blocks, while Ashley Rife had 22 assists for the Lions.

North Tahoe stats were not available.

The Lakers are scheduled to play a league match at West Wendover on Saturday and at Incline on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m.
