North Tahoe volleyball | Lakers earn hard-fought win against Sparks

Senior outside hitter Lexie Courcier smashed a season-high 24 kills to help lead the visiting Lakers past Sparks in five games on Friday.
After dropping the first set, 24-26, North Tahoe battled back for a win in the second game, 25-23, to even up the Mount Rose League match at 1-1. The Lakers lost the third set, 15-25, before rebounding to win the last two, 25-21 and 15-9.
and#8220;We fought hard and never gave up,and#8221; said North Tahoe head coach Tom LeFevers. and#8220;Our defense was amazing, with a lot of success in our blocking game.and#8221;
LeFevers also praised the Lakers’ serving game, as they posted 17 aces and finished with an 88 percent success rate.
Taylor Briggs led the team with six blocks and six service aces. Courcier, who was clicking with senior setter Iren Rojas all night, LeFevers said, finished with five aces and a block, while Rojas tallied a season-high 32 assists and three aces.
and#8220;We changed the offensive configuration a little, and it seems to have paid off,and#8221; LeFevers said. and#8220;Lexie had a season high in kills and played phenomenally. And Iren was all over the court.and#8221;
