Parity rules in the Sierra Sun UPickEm contest

Paul Raymore
Sierra Sun

Take a look at the scores of the top eight players in this weekend’s Sierra Sun Pro Football UPickEm contest and you’ll notice they are all the same ” 13 correct picks out of 16 games.

That parity echoes the season-long trend of a different person winning our game each week. The exceptions being Bob Habeger and yours truly (we’ve both won twice this season).

When the scores are that close, it really pays to have put some thought (or a lucky guess) into the tie-breaker game score. And taking first place with her extremely accurate prediction of the Washington-Baltimore game is Leah Alfano from Truckee.

She will have her choice of gift certificates from our sponsors ” Pete ‘n Peters in Tahoe City and the Blue Coyote in Truckee and Squaw ” and the right to call herself champion, if only for a week.

Our own Truckee Football blogger, Keith Thomas, took second place this week, giving him the gift certificate that Leah doesn’t choose.

Think you can do better? Then get in the game now at SierraSun.com/ProFootball.

Each week you pick the winner for each pro football game up to 15 minutes before it is scheduled to start. And each week the player with the most correct picks (see Web site for tie-breaker rules) wins their choice of a Blue Coyote or Pete ‘N Peters gift certificate, with second place taking the prize not selected by the winner.

In addition, we publish the names of the top 10 or so local players every Wednesday, meaning that even if you don’t win, at least you can brag if you beat your friends.

There’s still plenty of time to win, so get in the game! Log on to http://www.SierraSun.com/ProFootball now and sign up.
