The Patriots’ next possession again resulted in a punt.
The result of Truckee’s next possession was also the same, as quarterback Ty Englert connected with Shawn Howe for a 28-yard touchdown on the first play. The extra point was successful by Sawyer Ballister, bringing the score early in the first quarter to 13-0.
Deep in Reno territory, Pettite, a middle linebacker, stripped the ball from a Patriot running back and ran for 6 yards. A few plays later Graham Christian ran the ball in from the 14-yard line for the third touchdown of the first quarter. With the extra point failing, Truckee took a 19-0 lead.
