The South Lake Tahoe Vikings ended the Truckee Pop Warner Pee Wees’ shutout streak on Saturday. But the Pee Wees winning streak remained as they emerged with a 39-12 victory.

The formerly undefeated Vikings became the first team to score on Truckee, which is now 5-0 on the season, after driving down the field and into the end zone on their first possession of the game.

“The boys were upset, came out flat,” Truckee defensive coach Rich Stull said. “But they bounced right back. That kind of woke them up.”

Truckee head coach Gregg Christian was not concerned about the scoreless streak ending.

“It was like, the streak is over, now we can get back to business,” Christian said.

Truckee’s offense answered the Vikings’ score with a long drive capped by a Zach Petitte 2-yard touchdown run. The extra point by Graham Christian was good, giving Truckee a 7-6 lead. The first quarter went back and forth with neither team scoring again.
