First place was reserved for the Lakers and Wolverines in the Tahoe Basin Ski League regular-season finale Monday at Heavenly.
North Tahoe skiers Francesca English and Nico Monforte captured individual wins in the boys’ and girls’ slalom races, while their Lakers secured the regular-season title in the team combined and girls’ competitions. Truckee’s boys, meanwhile, continued their hot streak with their third consecutive win to edge the South Tahoe boys by one point for the regular-season title.
In the boys’ race, Monforte claimed victory with a two-run combined time of 56.21 seconds. Truckee’s Patrick Romano finished second in 1:00.24, North Tahoe’s Lucas Early rounded out the top three in 1:00.26 and the Wolverines’ Wes Harrington was fourth in 1:02 and Nico Kuyper seventh in 1:04. Truckee’s Colin Gerrard and Will Clausen were 11th and 12th, respectively, and North Tahoe’s Garrett Driller and Ryan Faye were 16th and 24th.
With four skiers among the top 11, the Truckee boys took the win with 204 points to South Tahoe’s 188, which also lifted them the season title with 38 points to the Vikings’ 37. The North Tahoe boys finished third in the season standings with 33 points.
In the girls’ race, English raced to a first-place finish in a time of 1:02.42 to easily beat runner-up Whitney Gardner of Whittell, who posted a time of 1:05.11. North Tahoe’s Johanna Gur placed fourth in 1:08, while teammates Audrey Johnson and Sydney Lancaster were ninth and 13th, respectively.
