Prep snowboarding: Ruby Wood leads field in Squaw Valley slalom

Truckeeandamp;#8217;s Ruby Wood captured first place individually while five Laker girls posted top-10 finishes in a CNISSF slalom snowboard race held Monday at Squaw Valley.Wood took first ahead of Nelly Steinhoff of Colfax with a two-run combined time of 46.53 seconds to Steinhoffandamp;#8217;s 47.32. Tara Turpin led the North Tahoe girls in third place (52.96), and was followed by teammates Jamie Gross in fourth (53.38), Kenna Bolt in fifth (54.17), Lexi Schumann in ninth (55.99) and Kara Horn 10th (56.18).The solid individual finishes keeps the Lakers girls in first place in the team standings, with 263 points to Davisandamp;#8217; 245. Colfaxandamp;#8217;s girls are third with 236 points and Truckeeandamp;#8217;s girls fourth with 213 points, followed by Placer (190), Nevada Union (175) and Bear River (112).Truckeeandamp;#8217;s Ariah Curtis finished 13th, while teammates Lindsey Bahr and Shauna Day were 27th and 30th, respectively. For the Laker girls, Emily Ashbaugh took 15th, Taylor Lewis 17th and Shelby Crawford 25th.In the boysandamp;#8217; race, Colfax swept the top five spots individually, led by Mackey Lealandamp;#8217;s win in 45.83, to easily earn the team victory. Ryan Cowie was the top-placing Truckee boy, finishing 10th with a time of 51.71. Truckeeandamp;#8217;s Austin McWhinney was 16th (53.85) and Derrick Bohlman 26th (55.95). Clayton Doyle led the Laker boys with an 11th-place finish in 51.76. He was trailed by teammates Griffin Lancaster in 18th (53.91), Thomas Snow in 20th (54.36) and Konrad Przybyslawski 23rd (55.37).After four of six Central II Snowboard Division races, Colfax leads the overall andamp;#8212; boys and girls combined andamp;#8212; with 510 points. North Tahoe is second overall with 467 points, followed by Nevada Union (423), Davis (412), Truckee (410), Placer (401) and Bear River (234).In the boysandamp;#8217; standings, Colfax leads with 274 points. Nevada Unionandamp;#8217;s boys are second with 248 points, Placer is third (211), North Tahoe fourth (204), Truckee fifth (197), Davis sixth (167) and Bear River seventh (122).

The Tahoe Basin Ski League wrapped up its regular season with two races at Sierra-at-Tahoe on Tuesday. Check the Sports andamp; Outdoors on Wednesday for results from the races, as well as the state championship team and individual qualifiers. State is scheduled for Feb. 20-21 at Mt. Rose.
