Psyche dance team performs well at Nationals

The Psyche Senior and Adult/International dance teams ” part of the Truckee-based T-n-T Explosion ” placed second and fifth in the JAMZ National Cheer and Dance Championship in Las Vegas on March 23.

Held at the Aladdin Performing Arts Theater, there were a total of 150 dance routines over the course of the day, with dancers ages 4 and older competing in techniques ranging from jazz, character dance, pom and hip-hop.

The Psyche Senior squad placed fifth among 12 teams and received a large trophy for its efforts. The team consisted of six dancers ” Lauren Wilson of Incline High, Aly Raymer of North Tahoe High, Stefan Ballard-Riesch of University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee High’s Javier Espinoza, Gil Cuevas and Jessica Bohner.

T-n-T’s Adult/International team received a championship medallion as well as a large team trophy for placing second among of a field of eight teams. The team was made up of Truckee High’s Jessica Ennis and Javier Espinoza, Becca Noble of Alder Creek Middle School, Stefan Ballard-Riesch of University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee residents Teri McKinney, Cindy Arvizu and Michelle Erskine.

The Psyche dance teams will compete in the International Dance Challenge in San Mateo from May 4-6.
