Disc golf tourneyThe second annual Tahoe Mountain Sports Disc Golf Tournament will be held at North Tahoe Regional Park on Aug. 30-31. The tournament will feature professional and amateur disc golfers. There will be four rounds with 124 participants followed by a barbecue and beer party. Visit http://www.tahoemountainsports.com for more information.Tahoe Rim Trail hikeExperience the Tahoe Rim Trail on a free guided hike from Kingsbury Grade North toward Spooner Summit on Aug. 30. This 4- to 5-mile out and back hike offers panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. Children should be over 7 years old, and dogs should be left at home. Meet at Kingsbury North trailhead at 9 a.m.; space is limited. To get there: Exit Interstate 80 at Hirshdale Road, head north on Hirshdale Road across the railroad tracks and park in the first parking lot on the right-hand side of the road. The league will have two divisions A league plays on mostly Thursday evenings and B league mostly on Tuesdays. Cost is $275 per team due at sign up. The season will consist of 8 games and playoffs, with games at Alder Creek Middle School from 6-9 p.m. For more information please call 582-7720.Adult gymnasticsMy Playground is starting a new gymnastics class for adults to be held on Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. at its Pioneer Commerce Center studio starting Sept. 1. No experience is required. This one-and-a-half hour class teaches body alignment, tumbling, bar, balance beam, vault, rings and Acrosports. Learn how to use your physical structure to support your weight both vertically and when inverted. The class provides a moderate aerobic workout and a significant anaerobic workout. The season is scheduled to begin Oct. 1 and continue on Wednesday evenings through December. The league will have two divisions, both playing on Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m, and will consist of at least eight games. Cost is $140 per team due at sign up. Games will be played at Alder Creek Middle School. The seasons will run nine games from Sept. 8-Oct. 9. Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with playoffs included. Cost for a coed team is $225 with additional player fees of $70. The cost for a mens team is $275 with additional player fees of $70. Regular season and new teams are encouraged to sign up. Registration will be taken through August. The group will meet at 5:45 p.m. This is an easy to moderate ride. To get there from Truckee: At the 7-Eleven on Brockway Road turn onto Ponderosa Palisades Road, take a right on Silver Fir and a left on Thelin.
