Little LakersThe Tahoe City Public Utility District Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for its Little Lakers sports program, open to boys and girls ages 3-5. The football session is scheduled for Mondays through Nov. 24 at Rideout Community Center from 10-10:45 a.m. The basketball session is scheduled for Mondays from Dec. 1 through 22 at Rideout Community Center from 10-10:45 a.m. Participation fee is $32 or $37 for non residents and includes a T-shirt. The Mashed Potato Mile, a one-mile race for children, is also taking place the same day starting at 10:10 a.m. Proceeds benefit Far West Nordic Juniors. Registration is $10 before Nov. 16 and $20 the day of the race. This hour-and-a-half class offers a superior warm-up, including stretches and traditional floor work. Emphasis is on body alignment, tumbling, bar, balance beam, vault, rings and Acrosports. The class provides a moderate aerobic workout, a significant anaerobic workout and the fun of obtaining new gymnastic skills. This is a good, low impact way to get in shape or continue to stay fit with an injury or pregnancy. This is a great way to get in shape for experienced swimmers, or for beginner swimmers who want to learn how to swim a workout.
