The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association trimmed the schedule for next week’s Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships at Squaw Valley by canceling the super G races.
Originally scheduled for Friday, March 21, the men’s and women’s super G races were canceled to allow organizers to focus on giant slalom and slalom races. They will not be rescheduled.
Calum Clark, vice president of events for USSA, said weather was among the reasons for the cancellations.
“Squaw Valley is an amazing race venue with an enormous amount of community support and expertise. While we’re disappointed that weather has impacted the scheduled super G events, we’re also confident now that Squaw Valley can produce a high level of organization to provide a great U.S. Championship for our clubs nationwide as well as our returning Olympians,” Clark said.
In addition to the U.S. Championship giant slalom and slalom events, USSA is also adding an International Ski Federation giant slalom for men and women.
The event will take place March 19-23.
