Tahoe Basin Ski League: Wolverines, Lakers finish 1-2 in opening race

Truckee claimed the overall victory and North Tahoe finished a close second in the opening Tahoe Basin Ski League race of the season at Sierra-at-Tahoe last Wednesday.

The Wolverines took the overall win in the giant slalom race with a combined score of 399 points between their girls and boys teams. North Tahoe could not have made it any closer, as the Lakers finished just one point behind, at 398.

Incline finished third with 348 points and was followed by South Tahoe (341), Douglas (308), Carson (169) and Whittell (151).

The Lakers and Wolverines swapped wins among their boys and girls teams, with Truckee girls winning with a high score of 204 points to North Tahoe's 201, and North Tahoe's boys winning with a score of 197 points to Truckee's 195.

Individually, North Tahoe's Neu Magnolia skied to victory in the girls race with a combined time of 1:06.9 between the two runs.

She was followed by Incline's Belle Johnson (1:07.2), North Tahoe's Jillian Ferre (1:07.7), and Truckee's Cheyenne Brown (1:09.4) and Danielle Dolan (1:11.8) rounding out the top five.

In the boys race, Incline's Winston Pretti captured the win with a combined time of 1:02.6.

South Tahoe's Alec Jobbins finished runner-up in 1:03.1. Truckee's Max Wingard was third in 1:03.5 and was followed by North Tahoe's Harrison Goss (1:04.0) and Truckee's Drew Wingard (1:04.0).
