Tahoe Trail Running Series continues

Patrick Parsel of South Lake Tahoe and Angela Matthews of Sacramento claimed victories in Big Blue Adventure's Run to Squaw race on Sunday.
The run started at Commons Beach in Tahoe City and followed the Truckee River 7.9 miles to the finish in the Village at Squaw Valley. A total of 70 people raced.
Parsel, 29, covered the mostly flat course in 44 minutes, 23.58 seconds. Ryan Nelson, 25, of Reno finished runner-up in 51:46.97 and Jose Luis Ramirez, 30, of Carson City was third in 51:54.34.
Truckee's Holden Reed, 19, finished fourth in 52:44.12, and Todd Tanis, 45, of Truckee was sixth in 46:29.31.
In the women's field, Matthews, 52, captured the win while placing seventh overall, posting a time of 56:32.29.
Brooke Warner, 35, from Pismo Beach was the second woman and 10th overall, in 58:16.54, and Michele Novotney, 39, of San Jose was the third woman and 12th overall, in 59:14.75.

Truckee's Michelle Reed finished fifth in the women's field and 17th overall (1:02:17), and Scott Montgomery of Truckee placed 24th overall (1:06:44).
The Run to Squaw was the fourth of 12 events in the Tahoe Trail Running Series, which continues with the Run to the Beach in Tahoe Vista on July 4 and the Northstar Mountain Run on Aug. 9.
