Truckee golf: Nousiainen tied for lead at state after Day 1

Truckee senior Allan Nousiainen is in a three-way tie for first place after Day 1 of the NIAA 3A State Championship tournament in Mesquite, Nev.

The two-day tournament wraps up on Wednesday.

Nousiainen, Truckee’s top golfer all season, is tied with Lowry’s Joe Dendary and Spring Creek’s Homer Andrae, each with a 74. Truckee freshman Marc Biederman is in sixth after the first day, as he posted an 81.

The Wolverines, who did not qualify to compete as a team, also sent Alex Cramer and Oskar Ekbom to state. Cramer shot a 93 on the first day and Ekbom a 102.

In the team competition, Virgin Valley and Lowry finished Day 1 tied at 422. Spring Creek (436) is third and Dayton (514) fourth.
