Truckee, North Tahoe set pace in ski league

The Truckee High Alpine ski team won its third consecutive Tahoe Basin Ski League race Tuesday at Heavenly Mountain Resort to remain undefeated on the season.

North Tahoe placed third overall ” a combined total of the boys’ and girls’ results ” in the GS race hosted by Whittell for its third top-three finish.

Truckee won with a combined score of 351, while South Tahoe was second with 323 points. North Tahoe had 292 points to finish ahead of Incline (207), Douglas (185) and Whittell (108).

In the season standings, Truckee has a firm grip on first place and North Tahoe is in second, one point in front of third-place South Tahoe.

Individually on the girls’ side, Truckee’s Brandie Macken kept her undefeated record intact by taking the top spot for the third straight race with a combined time ” between two runs ” of 1:07.32.

Michelle Delumyea and Shelby Macrorie, both of Truckee, placed second and third in 1:07.94 and 1:08.38, and North Tahoe’s Kaitlin McMillan was ninth (1:17.39) and Danielle Smallman 13th (1:21.72).

In the boys’ race, Truckee’s Jake Perkins placed first for the second time this season with a combined time of 1:02.44. Graham Collins of Truckee was second (1:06.85) and Kevin Scardigli of North Tahoe fourth (1:06.70). Truckee’s Danny Kruck placed fifth (1:10.13) and Duncan Lowder eighth (1:11.64).

North Tahoe and Truckee dominated at the junior varsity level, with the Laker girls finishing in the top three ” Michelle Zarick (1:39.50), Kelly Altick (1:47.43) and Jessie Fidler (1:50.20) ” and the boys skiers between the two schools hoarding the top 13 spots.

Truckee’s Nick Tomasello (1:24.68), Christian Bratt (1:25.17) and Jason Paladino (1:27.70) finished 1-2-3, while North Tahoe’s Jordan Boemer (1:28.36) and Brandon Guertzmach (1:30.66) placed fourth and fifth.

The next league race is scheduled for Wednesday at Sierra-at-Tahoe.
