Truckee, North Tahoe volleyball rollin’

The North Tahoe volleyball team avenged a Sept. 20 league loss at Battle Mountain with a win in three games over the visiting Longhorns this past Saturday.
The Lakers are now 5-1 in Northern 2A league play.
Senior Kayla Baumgardner led the Lakers with nine kills and three blocks against Battle Mountain, while Sydney Courcier added six kills and one block.
North Tahoe also defeated Pershing County (Lovelock) in four games this past Friday. Baumgardner had a huge match, tallying 13 kills and 11 blocks, while Arielle Younger had six kills and five blocks. Lakers head coach Tom LeFevers said senior setter Kelly Hester contributed to both wins with accurate passing.
Up next: North Tahoe hosts Hug in a nonleague match today (Tuesday) at 6 p.m.
The Truckee High volleyball team finished second to Marin Academy (Calif.) in the Carmichael Tournament this past weekend to improve to 17-5 overall.

The Wolverines began the tournament with a win in two games, 25-9, 25-18, over Waldorf of San Francisco. They followed with wins over Buckingham 25-14, 25-12, Willits 25-23, 26-24, Reedley 25-15, 25-13, and Mercy 25-20, 22-25, 15-13.
Truckee lost to Marin Academy 22-25, 22-25 in the finals.
