Sun Staff report

The Truckee boys’ soccer team coasted to a 12-0 win at Dayton to wrap up the regular season on Thursday, while the Truckee girls won 5-0.

In the girls’ game, Truckee senior Julia Hasal Politio scored in the third minute off of a pass from Ali Haines. Serena Dill then scored in the 17th minute off of a direct kick, which she rebounded herself to put in for the goal, while Claire Roberts provided Olivia Duner with a beautiful pass off of which Duner scored in the 19th minute for a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, Roberts was able to break through the offsides trap and run the ball the length of the field to score in the 50th minute. Shelby Matthews made a nice run from the defense, passing a well-placed through ball to Haines, who put it in the net for the final goal in the 65th minute.

Truckee’s girls (9-3 league) will enter the Northern 3A Regional Tournament as the No. 3 seed from the Sierra League and will play at second-seeded Fallon of the Humboldt League on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m. If the Wolverines win, they’ll face the winner between South Tahoe and Fernley in the semifinal round Friday, Nov. 4 at Fallon.
